Egypt’s electricity consumption rebounded 9% to a record 160.9TWh for 2021, topping the previous high of 159.4TWh set in 2018. Record 2021 demand was driven primarily by 10% rise in industrial use to a record 44.7TWh whilst business use saw a 23% post-Covid rebound to a four-year high 8.2TWh (see chart 1).
