Libya’s 290,000 b/d El Sharara field has resumed production according to lead operator Repsol. CEO Josu Jon Imaz told his firm’s Q1 earnings call on 28 April that “today we are producing, roughly speaking, in gross terms 70,000 b/d, more or less 25% of the field [capacity].”
Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) declared force majeure on El Sharara, Eni’s nearby 70,000 b/d-capacity El Feel and two key eastern oil terminals – Brega and Zueitina – in mid-April after protestors interrupted operations – purportedly on orders from eastern-based authorities who are seeking to overthrow the western-based government (MEES, 22 April).
