An ambitious but long-delayed petrochemicals push by Algeria’s Sonatrach received a huge boost this month with the award of a AD76bn ($520mn) EPC contract to state-owned Chinese contractors CNTIC and LPEC for a 200,000 t/y (4,650 b/d) plant to produce gasoline additive methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE).
