In terms of Iraq’s upstream, the giant fields of Basra province in Iraq’s far south normally garner the most attention. But fields in neighboring Missan province to the north are also critical to the country’s oil and gas ambitions. State-owned Missan Oil Company (MOC) oversees Iraq’s second largest oil province with nominal capacity of around 620,000 b/d. And while this is dwarfed by Basra’s 3.4mn b/d, Missan nevertheless remains a key pillar of Iraq’s energy sector.
As such, Baghdad has a number of projects underway in Missan aimed at expanding and upgrading production capacity. As Iraq seeks to bring production capacity back up to pre-Covid levels, MOC is providing some of the gains. (CONTINUED - 1090 WORDS)
