Italian firm Eni and its 50:50 partner at Cyprus’ Block 6, have kicked off drilling at a second target, the Zeus-1 well, just days after making the 2.5tcf Cronos discovery on the same block, Cyprus’ Energy Ministry confirmed on 22 August.
Operator Eni says, “preliminary estimates [for Cronos] indicate about 2.5tcf of gas in place, with significant additional upside that will be investigated by a further exploration well in the area,” adding to the firm’s 2018, 6-8tcf Calypso discovery, made on the same block approximately 30km east (MEES, 16 February 2018).
