Algerian state oil and gas firm Sonatrach is on the cusp of adding around 1.8bcm/y (175mn cfd) of fresh gas production from fields surrounding the aging Ohanet field in the Illizi Basin, according to UK contractor Petrofac which is carrying out at a $500mn expansion project at the field.
Petrofac on 28 July announced “first gas” from the ‘Tinhert Field Development,’ the key remaining element of Sonatrach’s 5.5bcm/y ‘Tinhert Phase-1’ expansion at Ohanet which started up in 2020 at a rate of 10mn m³/day (3.7bcm/y) (MEES, 15 April). (CONTINUED - 775 WORDS)
