Abu Dhabi state offtaker Ewec has qualified 19 firms to submit bids for its planned 1.5GW Al Ajban solar PV plant. On 18 January it announced that 43 firms had expressed interest, and that the 19 qualifying entities have until end-Q1 to submit bids. The project was launched in May 2022 (MEES, 13 May 2022) and upon completion will bring Abu Dhabi’s renewables capacity up to 4.68GW.
The developer will be entitled to a stake of up to 40% in the project, with the remaining equity “held indirectly by the Abu Dhabi Government” – most likely through state-led utility Taqa. The developer will then enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ewec. (CONTINUED - 226 WORDS)
