QatarEnergy has signed two 27-year LNG supply agreements with TotalEnergies on 11 October to supply France with up to 3.5mn t/y of LNG as it markets volumes from its $45bn expansion project. This marks the second long-term agreement with Europe, a potentially key market for the emirate as the continent seeks to secure its medium-term gas supply.
The new deals start in 2026, and therefore run to 2053. Notably this extends beyond France’s 2050 net-zero target, underlining the country’s struggles to balance near-term energy security concerns with the energy transition. (CONTINUED - 994 WORDS)
