The EU on 5 October pledged €15mn in renewables-related funding for Algeria. A joint statement from the fifth annual meeting of an EU-Algeria energy dialogue in Brussels said the program seeks to build on the “very successful results” of the EU’s ongoing ‘Taka Nadifa’ (clean energy) technical assistance program.
“This program aims to support the development of renewable energy projects, the integration of renewables into the system, including through new technologies, and electrical interconnection, the development of a green hydrogen economy, the increase of renewables in energy production and transport, as well as energy efficiency in buildings and public companies,” according to a joint statement.
