Official US output data for August confirm that the month saw a new oil output record. August output of 13.053mn b/d was 53,000 b/d higher than the previous record of 13.000mn b/d set in November 2019, though well below the provisional figure of 13.18mn b/d (MEES, 20 October). Texas saw record output of 5.63mn b/d, underlying the importance of the basin’s key Permian shale play (MEES, 13 October).
The Permian has also been central to a surge in US NGLs output to a record 6.548mn b/d for August for a total US liquids output of 19.601mn b/d, some 180,000 b/d higher than the previous record set two months earlier. (CONTINUED - 387 WORDS)
