American power firm GE has signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity according to an 18 February press release by the ministry. The signature comes just a month after Iraq revived its electricity roadmap with Germany’s Siemens during a visit to Berlin by PM Mohammed al-Sudani (MEES, 20 January).
The GE agreement was overseen by Mr Sudani and comes as he prepares for a visit to Washington (MEES, 17 February) and the ministry gears up for the upcoming summer when high temperatures drive up electricity demand. (CONTINUED - 337 WORDS)
