Norway’s renewables developer Scatec has decided to exit its awarded but yet-to-be contractually finalized solar projects in Iraq. The firm confirms that it has pulled out of Iraq, following an initial report by Iraq Oil Report, telling MEES that “as part of our sharpened strategy, we have decided to focus our efforts on carefully selected markets. Therefore, we have decided not to proceed with the projects in Iraq.”
Scatec had won the two largest projects – 225MW Iskandariya PV south of Baghdad and 300MW Karbala PV – as part of the country’s first competitive solar bid round in early 2021 (MEES, 26 February 2021). (CONTINUED - 315 WORDS)
