Fighting between Sudan’s army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) shows no sign of abating. Skirmishes continued despite the start of a 72-hour truce from midnight on 24 April, which was extended for a further 72 hours on 27 April.
Amid the devastating fighting, imports of vitally important refined oil products have largely ground to a halt. Data intelligence firm Kpler shows a backlog of oil tankers holding gasoil cargoes for delivery to Sudan stranded offshore. Since 7 April, only one cargo has been delivered – on 22 April.
