Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides traveled to Cairo on 6 April, marking his second visit on foreign soil, after visiting Greece last month, since his election in February (MEES, 3 March). Mr Christodoulides was joined on the trip by new Energy Minister George Papanastasiou, holding meetings with both President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla with the fate of Cyprus’ 4.5tcf Aphrodite gas field high on the agenda.

The two development options being considered by the Aphrodite partners involve Egyptian gas infrastructure, while they are also hoping to use Egypt’s under-utilized LNG plants to export their gas (MEES, 7 April). (CONTINUED - 137 WORDS)
