Russian private-sector firm Lukoil has this month wrapped up its second phase development at Iraq’s southern West Qurna-2 (WQ-2) oil field (see map) by tying-in two new well pads, bringing capacity up from 350,000 b/d to 480,000 b/d. Initially slated for 2020 completion, the Covid-19 pandemic disruption exacerbated delays.

Lukoil has completed second phase development at Iraq’s West Qurna-2 oil field, bringing capacity to 480,000 b/d. But with seemingly all output coming from the medium Mishrif reservoir, the wait for much-prized lighter Yamama output goes on.
