Israel will work with Egypt and the Palestinian Authority (PA) to develop the 1tcf Gaza Marine field, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu’s office announced on 18 June. Developing the field, discovered 30km off Gaza by the UK’s BG in 2000 has been the subject of announcements by the PA and Egypt in recent years but with no tangible action. BG was subsequently bought by Shell which exited the project in 2018 (MEES, 30 March 2018).
Speaking late last year at an industry event, Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek El Molla said Cairo and the PA would work closely to develop the field (MEES, 28 October 2022).
