Dubai ratcheted up its renewable energy capacity over the first half of 2023 as it prepares to host the Cop 28 climate conference later this year. The Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has inaugurated the 900MW Phase 5 of Dubai’s MBR solar park, completion of which brings the emirate’s installed solar capacity up to 2.427GW.
“The UAE is at the forefront of global efforts to create a more sustainable future for all of humanity by taking concrete action to transition to renewable energies and combat climate change…The completion of the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park takes us another major step closer to realizing our vision for an economy fully powered by clean energy,” said Sheikh Mohammed at the ceremony on 18 June.
