Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Water and Electricity Co (Ewec) is preparing for a near-50% increase in electricity demand across its grid by 2030. Latest figures from the state entity show peak demand on its system rising from 16.39GW last year to 24.26GW by 2030 as the government pushes ahead with ambitious economic development plans.
Ewec’s installed capacity stood at 18.95GW at end-2022 and is on course to hit 20GW this year, but a significant increase in capacity will be required to ensure the reliable provision of electricity in 2030. (CONTINUED - 894 WORDS)
