State energy firm and LNG giant QatarEnergy has ordered seventeen “ultra-modern” LNG carriers from Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries in a QR14.2bn ($3.90bn) deal.
This brings QatarEnergy’s LNG vessel orderbook to 77, up from the 60 tankers ordered under the first phase of the company’s ship acquisition program (MEES, 24 April 2020). In announcing the first phase back in 2019 the firm said its orderbook may eventually exceed 100 ships (MEES, 26 April 2019). (CONTINUED - 156 WORDS)
