QatarEnergy has awarded Australian engineering firm Worley a contract for front-end engineering design (FEED) for a major carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project. Worley announced on 25 September that it will develop the FEED study and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope of work for CCS facilities with a capacity of 4.3mn t/y. The work is to be completed in 2024.
The sequestration facility will handle volumes from ten of Qatar’s existing liquefaction trains at its Ras Laffan hub. “CO₂ will be captured from the trains, compressed, and injected into the new injection wells. New compression trains and pipelines need to be installed after FEED is completed,” says Worley. (CONTINUED - 221 WORDS)
