Hong Kong-listed United Energy Group (UEG) said on 2 January that it has completed construction of a 100,000 b/d processing facility at Iraq’s 60,000 b/d Faihaa field on Basra’s Block 9. The $593.6mn project was awarded in early-2022 to a consortium of China’s CAMC Engineering Co. and CNOOC Petrochemical Engineering, although UEG now says work was conducted by CNPC subsidiary PetroChina Daqing Oilfield Construction.
The completion ceremony held on 21 December, ahead of end-2023 target completion (MEES, 28 January 2022). The facility is yet to be operational, but output at full design capacity is “just around the corner” according to UEG. The firm also began commissioning a 70,000 b/d water processing station built by another CNPC subsidiary specialised in pipeline construction (CONTINUED - 154 WORDS)
