Saudi Aramco’s new route of supplying its Jazan refinery from its Red Sea terminals at Yanbu rather than Ras Tanura on the Gulf is becoming entrenched, as the firm reduces its exposure to ongoing Houthi shipping attacks. It is now three months since the last crude oil cargo was delivered to Jazan from Ras Tanura on 28 July.

Where previously Jazan ran on Arab Medium crude oil shipped from Ras Tanura through the Bab al-Mandeb, it is now being supplied from Yanbu with a mixture of Arab Light and Arab Heavy crudes (see charts). The mixture replicates the Arab Medium grade, and the change doesn’t appear to have had a notable impact on output from the 400,000 b/d refinery. (CONTINUED - 796 WORDS)
