Morocco’s installed wind capacity has hit 2.39GW, with state power firm ONEE on 11 October announcing the start-up of the 270MW Jbel Lahdid wind farm north of Essaouira on the country’s Atlantic coast.
ONEE says that this takes the country’s total renewables capacity to 5.44GW, a figure that rivals the UAE’s 5.6GW (MEES, 20 September) and Israel’s 6GW (MEES, 31 May) and as regional number two behind Egypt with just shy of 7GW (MEES, 25 October).
