Chevron is set to take “two new concession areas” in Egypt’s Mediterranean offshore, the country’s oil ministry says.
MEES learns that one of the blocks is West Star, situated southeast of Exxon’s Cairo and Masry deepwater blocks, which was close to being awarded to Chevron last year (MEES, 14 July 2023). The second block is in the West Med offshore region where Chevron and new partner QatarEnergy are currently drilling the Khendjer-1 wildcat on the North el Dabaa block (MEES, 15 November).
