Oman’s oil and gas output trajectories have diverged in recent years, with successive record highs for gas and oil crimped by Opec+ production quotas. For 3Q 2024 steady crude output in line with Oman’s 760,000 b/d quota capped overall liquids at 992,000 b/d, level with Q2’s three-year low (see chart 1). Oman was supposed to benefit from the unwinding of cuts in October under the June roadmap for phasing in capacity, but Opec+ has twice deferred the plan, most recently to December (MEES, 8 November).
