US major Chevron has begun drilling only its second ever Egypt well in the country’s under-explored ‘West Med’ offshore.
“We can confirm that we have commenced drilling of an exploration well at Khendjer in North el Dabaa Block 4 in early November 2024,” Chevron says. The Stena Forth drillship spudded the Khendjer-1 well on 2 November. Chevron (63%) operates North el Dabaa alongside Australia’s Woodside (27%) and Egypt state firm Tharwa (10%).
