US contractor KBR announced on 7 November that it secured the front-end engineering design (Feed) contract for Oman LNG’s planned 3.8mn t/y fourth LNG train at its current three-train 11.4mn t/y facility in Sur (see map, p2). Oman’s energy ministry announced plans for the fourth train, expected by 2029, back in July on the back the country’s growing gas output (MEES, 2 August).
The latest output boost comes from Shell’s ramp up to 500mn cfd during the first half of this year from Block 10 (Shell 53.45%, TotalEnergies 26.55%, OQ 20%). According to state upstream firm OQEP, the same partners (Shell 67.5%, Total 22.5%, OQEP 10%) have also made a gas discovery at the Jaleel field in Block 11 which is currently undergoing appraisal (MEES, 27 September).
