The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has signed power purchase agreements (PPA) for eight projects totaling 10.9GW in recent weeks as it pushes ahead with the kingdom’s efforts to expand and upgrade its power generation infrastructure.

The new PPAs are for a combination of gas-fired and solar PV power plants (see table), with the latest deals signed on 2 December with two French firms during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the kingdom. On the sidelines of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum, SPPC signed deals with consortiums including TotalEnergies and EDF for 1.7GW of solar PV capacity. (CONTINUED - 894 WORDS)
