Sultan al-Jaber, the Chairman of Abu Dhabi petrochemicals firm Borouge and CEO of its largest shareholder Adnoc (54%), says the firm is accelerating its domestic and international growth plans. In a 28 March announcement, Mr Jaber said that “Our second ethylene unit (EU2) is advancing plans to increase our total [annual] production of olefins and polyolefins by 230,000 tons after project completion in 2028.” Along with next year’s planned completion of the 1.5mn t/y Borouge-4 plant next year, this will lift overall polymer capacity to 6.63mn t/y.
Mr Jaber adds that “Internationally, the company is pursuing accelerated global growth opportunities, including an opportunity in the Asia Pacific region that has reached feasibility stage,” but didn’t provided further details. (CONTINUED - 142 WORDS)
