Nicosia over the coming days will examine a proposal filed on 28 March by US major Chevron (35%), operator of the 3.5tcf Aphrodite field as it considers whether to accept potential revised development options (MEES, 29 March). MEES understands both options crucially include the use of a floating production unit (FPU) which Nicosia has been insistent on, tying back the gas to Egypt.
Having extensively studied the revised options, technocrats from the energy ministry will give their recommendations in the coming days to President Nikos Christodoulides, Energy Minister George Papanastasiou and the country’s national council and cabinet. (CONTINUED - 264 WORDS)
