Kuwait’s Ministry of Finance has approved an award to local firm Al Ghanim International to build the 900MW stage-4 CCGT expansion at the 7GW Sabiya power complex, removing perhaps the last remaining hurdle to the long-delayed contract’s finalization.
The $845mn price tag, split between a KD204mn ($661mn) local currency portion and a euro-denominated portion of €170mn ($184mn) according to local daily al-Anbaa, is considerably above the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW)’s initial KD168mn ($543mn) estimate. (CONTINUED - 279 WORDS)
