Adnoc announced on 14 May that it has delivered the world’s first “bulk commercial shipment of low-carbon ammonia enabled by carbon capture and storage.” The shipment was delivered to Mitsui for use in power generation in Japan and was certified by TÜV SÜD. No details on the size of the cargo or the price were released.

The shipment was produced by Adnoc subsidiary Fertiglobe at its Fertil facility at Ruwais, with CO2 captured and stored in the world’s first fully sequestered CO2 injection well in a carbonate saline aquifer. Adnoc completed its first such well last year (MEES, 8 September 2023). (CONTINUED - 293 WORDS)
