Israel’s position in the East Mediterranean and wider Middle East has become a whole lot more uncomfortable following the start of the deadly conflict with Hamas in October (MEES, 13 October 2023). Although no country has broken diplomatic ties, relations with neighboring Egypt and Jordan have become strained.
But energy inter-dependence is strong with both nations dependent on Israeli gas to fuel their power plants and keep the lights on.
