The not-so-private spat between Egypt and the country’s top gas producer Eni may be drawing to a close with Cairo coming through with the latest disbursements on receivables. MEES learns that during the most recent set of payments to oil firms operating in Egypt, Eni was given not only the largest sum, around $400mn, but also the largest proportion (c.25%) of its reported $1.6bn outstanding dues.
While this is in line with last month’s pledge by PM Mustafa Madbouly to pay firms 20-25% of their receivables bill, MEES learns the amount paid to Eni was substantially larger than that paid to other firms who are owed significant sums. (CONTINUED - 736 WORDS)
