The UAE’s key bunkering hub of Fujairah is on course to import record volumes of low sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) this year as outages at a key refinery have hit local production. Both units at the 67,000 b/d Fort Energy refinery in Fujairah are currently offline according to sources. Neither Fort Energy nor operator Montfort responded to a request for comment.
The refinery was purchased from long-time operator Uniper by a consortium of Montfort Group and the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum last year, with the sale agreed in February 2023 and closing in May that year (MEES, 14 July 2023). (CONTINUED - 801 WORDS)
