Egypt pocketed a record $14.4bn in tourism revenues from a record 14.9 million tourist arrivals for the 2023-24 financial year which ended on 30 June. The latest revenue figure tops the previous record of $13.6bn set the previous year (2022-23), though in real terms the $11.6bn recorded in 2009-10 was higher.
The first half of 2024 saw 1H records for revenues ($6.6bn, versus year ago $6.3bn), arrivals (7.1 million) and overnight stays (70.2 million), whilst 2023 saw calendar-year records of $14.1bn revenue and 14.9mn arrivals. (CONTINUED - 356 WORDS)
