Iranians headed to the polls on 5 July in the second round of presidential elections held after the death of former hardliner President Ebrahim Raisi in a late-May helicopter crash (MEES, 24 May).
The second round sees hardliner Saeed Jalili and the relatively-reformist Masoud Pezeshkian go head to head. Mr Pezeshkian topped the polls in the 28 June first round with 10.41mn votes (44.4%), followed by Mr Jalili with 9.47mn votes (40%).
