Sabic Agri-Nutrients, the fertilizer arm of Saudi Arabia’s state-led petrochemicals giant Sabic announced on 3 July that it has secured a feedstock allocation from the Ministry of Energy for a 1.2mn t/y blue ammonia plant. The firm says the facility will be located in Jubail Industrial City on the Saudi Gulf coast and will also be able to produce 1.1mn t/y of urea and specialized agri-nutrients. Sabic’s main shareholder, Aramco (70%), targets 11mn t/y blue ammonia capacity by 2030.
No timeframe for the plant was provided, with the announcement noting that “the Company will do the engineering studies to evaluate the leading technologies and will select the most efficient in energy and feedstock utilization.” (CONTINUED - 136 WORDS)
