Hintco, the German state-backed entity charged with securing green hydrogen supplies, on 28 August announced the inking of a formal contract for UAE-Egypt JV Fertiglobe to supply Germany with green ammonia from 2027, firming up a tender award made last month (MEES, 19 July).
Under the deal worth “up to €397mn” Fertiglobe will provide “renewable ammonia” from its facilities at Ain Sukhna in Egypt “to European ports” at a delivered price of €1000/ton. Deliveries are slated to start at a “potential” 19,500 tons in 2027, “with total deliveries expected to rise to a cumulative 397,000 tons by 2033, contingent on production and supply conditions,” Hintco says.
