Iraq state Midlands Oil says proven reserves figure at its East Baghdad oilfield have doubled from 7.3bn barrels to 15bn barrels after appraisal drilling by operator EBS Petroleum, a subsidiary of Chinese state firm ZhenHua. Midlands says the latest well flowed “at around 5,000 b/d” adding 2bn barrels to reserves. ZhenHua operates East Baghdad–South where production averaged 40,000 b/d for December, with all 22mn cfd of wellhead gas output flared.
Midlands Oil operates East Baghdad–North, where output is lower at 8,000 b/d and 15mn cfd, of which around 12mn cfd goes to nearby power plants. Oil from both flanks is comingled and processed at shared 60,000 b/d facilities at East Baghdad–South. (CONTINUED - 114 WORDS)
