Israel-Azerbaijan relations are going from strength to strength. State oil & gas firm Socar on 31 January announced it is buying 10% of Israel’s giant Tamar gas field from companies controlled by Israeli businessman Aaron Frenkel.
Tamar is Israel’s second largest gas field – number three in the East Med behind Egypt’s Zohr – with 13.7tcf of original 2P reserves. Of this 10.3tcf remained to be produced as of end-2023, with 2024’s output of 973mn cfd (10.1bcm) implying a further fall to just over 9.9tcf as of end-2024 (see table). (CONTINUED - 859 WORDS)
